A Pro Wrestling anime based on the original work by Ikki Kajiwara and Naoki Tsuji that aired for two years starting in 1969. Tiger Mask, the villainous masked wrestler who swept America and made his name known worldwide, lands in Japan and continues to engage in brutal matches in the ring, gaining popularity due to his overwhelming strength. However, his continued fighting is also to save the orphanage where his true identity, Naoto Date, was cared for as a child. Eventually, he leaves the secret organization Toranoden, which trained him, and becomes a traitor and engages in deadly battles against assassins sent by the organization. Despite the flashy stage of Pro Wrestling , the story unfolds with a dark perspective on the underlying issues of the period of rapid economic growth. Including the appearance of real wrestlers like Giant Baba and Antonio Inoki , it is a masterpiece that explodes with Kajiwara-ism. The first box set contains episodes 1~36.
